Movie Review: Bloody Daddy
Introduction
Bloody Daddy, a thriller movie directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and starring Shahid Kapoor, Diana Penty, Ronit Roy, Sanjay Kapoor, and Rajeev Khandelwal, is a retelling of the French film Sleepless Night that attempts to infuse a certain amount of madness to the traditional plot. This report is a movie review of Bloody Daddy.
Storyline
The story revolves around Kapoor’s character, a single father who is a secret narcotics officer, and his partner in crime, who rob a drug lord and get involved in a car crash and firing. Their ultimate goal is to rescue Kapoor’s kidnapped son, and while doing so, they have to avoid getting caught by the drug lord’s henchmen, corrupt cops, and other adversaries that come their way.
Philosophical Discussion
Bloody Daddy portrays the complexities of fatherhood and through Kapoor’s character, shows an unconventional portrayal of a parent who is willing to cross any limits to protect his son, even if it means breaking the law. The movie raises questions about morality, ethics, and the thin line between right and wrong.
Editorial
Despite its best efforts, Bloody Daddy fails to deliver a remarkable story arc and build intense emotional hooks. It’s a typical action-thriller movie that ticks all the checkboxes of the genre and fails to rise above the cliches and limitations of the storyline. The Singham references and the male-dominated narrative seem tiring and add nothing new to the plot. While there are moments of madness, humor, and action, the plot falls flat and seems predictable towards the end.
Advice
If you are a fan of action-thriller movies and Shahid Kapoor’s acting, Bloody Daddy will give you a decent dose of entertainment. However, if you are looking for an intense plot, emotional depth, and a fresh take on the genre, you may want to give this one a miss.
The movie rates 2.5 out of 5 stars and is currently streaming on JioCinema.
