Canadiens’ Nick Suzuki Scores First Goal of the Season

Since the start of the season, Nick Suzuki had been unable to find the back of the net. It was clear that the pressure was weighing heavily on the captain, who has not had the best start to the season, both offensively and beyond. Losing Kirby Dach has also added more weight on his shoulders, as he is now the only true top centerman on the team. However, tonight Suzuki was finally able to shake off the monkey on his back and score his first goal of the season early in the period.

He took advantage of a well-placed pass from Boone Jenner, a player from the Blue Jackets, to find the back of the net. And if anyone doubted that the quest for his first goal of the season was starting to bother him, just look at his reaction after scoring. He may not be the most expressive player, but he allowed himself some emotion after finding the back of the net. There is clearly relief in that scream.

Relief and Confidence Boost

I wonder if his first goal of the season will give him a boost in the days and weeks to come. We know that goal droughts like this can weigh heavily on players’ morale, and it was clear that something was bothering the captain for a while now. If he can get going, it will certainly benefit the Canadiens, who need their top centerman to step up with Kirby Dach out for the season. So, both for Suzuki and the team, it is good news to see #14 put an end to his offensive slump. I can’t wait to see if we will see him more confident in the upcoming games.
