Reuniting Four Generations for a Memorable Father’s Day of Golf
A Long-Awaited Dream Fulfilled
The Lee family from Saskatoon had a Father’s Day celebration like no other. Four generations of the family came together to fulfill a long-awaited dream of spending a day of golfing together. The Holiday Park Golf course in Saskatoon became the backdrop for this momentous occasion, as the family not only competed in the game but also witnessed their wish becoming a reality.
Robert Lee, now in his 80s, expressed his joy and gratitude for this special day. “We talked about this actually when they were visiting me in Ontario… we talked about someday we want to have a foursome and now that’s come to pass,” he said. Robert was born and raised in Saskatoon but moved away at the age of 18 to join the military and become a pilot. Although he now lives in Brighton, Ontario, Robert decided to take a road trip with his wife to visit his family and make this dream come true.
A Road Trip of Memories
The road trip for Robert and his wife has been filled with adventure and joy. “We’ve been on the road since last month,” Robert shared. “It’s been a long journey for us, we’re having a great time but it’s coming to an end now.” However, ending their road trip with a memorable milestone alongside his son, Jim, grandson, and great-grandson was the perfect way to conclude their journey.
Jim, who has golfed extensively with his father over the years, described the uniqueness of this experience. “It is quite unique, especially this day and age, with travel and families being spread out… there are a lot of people that their fathers aren’t around… but they’re with you,” he expressed. Jim emphasized the importance of seizing any opportunity to spend time with loved ones, particularly on Father’s Day. “If everybody can get together on that day, it’d be awesome,” he added.
A Bonding Opportunity Through Golf
For Kevin Lee, Father’s Day couldn’t have been spent in any other way. Golfing serves as a great hobby that the four generations of the Lee family share, providing them with an opportunity to bond. “It’s absolutely phenomenal to have grandpa out and joining us,” Kevin said. The beautiful weather added to the joy of the day and made the experience all the more memorable.
Jagger, Kevin’s son and the youngest member of the family at 11 years old, cherished the time spent with his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather on the golf course. “It’s really special because I don’t get to spend a lot of time with them regularly,” he explained, acknowledging the significance of Father’s Day.
Philosophical Reflections and Advice
Jagger imparted some advice for younger generations based on his experience. “Be nice to your parents and don’t take advantage of them,” he urged. According to Jagger, it is important to cherish and spend time with parents because life is unpredictable, and one might not fully grasp the value of these moments until they are gone.
This heartwarming story of the Lee family serves as a reminder of the importance of family connections and making the most of the time we have with our loved ones. Father’s Day provides an opportunity to express gratitude, strengthen bonds, and create cherished memories. As Robert Lee wisely stated, “As a father in his 80s, make use of every day you got… it’s your family, and (be) sure to spend a lot of time with them.” Let this be a lesson for us all to prioritize our relationships and embrace the fleeting moments of togetherness that life offers.
