Investigations Launched Following Trench Collapse and Worker Fatality in Calgary
Calgary has been hit by yet another tragedy on June 8, 2023, as a worker who was excavating a trench in the Charleswood community was buried alive in the collapse, as tons of dirt, sand, and debris came cascading down on him. The Calgary Fire Department was deployed to the tragic scene upon the receipt of a distress call, and rescue operations were immediately initiated. However, despite the best efforts from the emergency crew, the young man’s lifeless body was only retrieved late Thursday night.
