Partnership Between Érable du Québec and the Montreal Canadiens
A Natural Marriage of Tradition and Passion
The Producteurs et productrices acéricoles du Québec (PPAQ), representing over 13,300 maple syrup producers in the province, has joined forces with Érable du Québec to partner with an organization that, much like maple syrup itself, has united all Quebecers for over a century. As the National Hockey League season begins, Érable du Québec announces its proud partnership with the Montreal Canadiens for the next three years. Both organizations share common values of tradition, passion, and pride, and they are important contributors to Quebec’s economy, as well as the reputation and influence of our region beyond borders.
This collaboration is a natural union between an iconic product like maple syrup and the beloved sport of the Québécois. Luc Goulet, President of PPAQ, stated that through this partnership, the PPAQ aims to bring fans together around these two national treasures and demonstrate that maple syrup is an ideal natural sugar for athletes. Goulet humorously added, “I am confident that with maple syrup, the Canadiens players will have the energy they need for a successful season!”
On the other hand, the Montreal Canadiens organization is delighted to partner with a local brand and a cherished product amongst the people of Quebec. France Margaret Bélanger, President of Sports and Entertainment at Groupe CH, expressed their pride in welcoming Érable du Québec as a new partner starting from the 2023-2024 season. Bélanger stated, “We are fortunate to have a unique product with widely recognized quality, and we are thrilled to support the maple syrup producers of Quebec.”
A Perfect Match: Maple and Sports
This is not Érable du Québec‘s first foray into sports partnerships. Since 2015, it has been the official energy source of the Fédération québécoise des sports cyclistes, and in 2022, it became the first partner of the professional women’s hockey team La Force de Montréal. Professional cyclist Hugo Houle, a Tour de France stage winner, has also been an ambassador for maple syrup since 2017. Given that maple syrup is an excellent source of carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals, it is not surprising that many athletes incorporate it into their daily diet to enhance performance and endure intense and challenging efforts.
The PPAQ is thrilled to join forces with a reputable and legendary organization like the Montreal Canadiens. This year, the approximately 13,300 maple syrup producers in Quebec will cheer for their national team by raising a glass of maple syrup to the future triumphs of the Tricolore!
