Editor’s note: The below contains spoilers for Episode 7 of Ahsoka.

In the latest episode of “Ahsoka,” titled “Dreams and Madness,” the story reaches its penultimate point. However, there are still unresolved plotlines and conflicts that suggest the season finale will be packed with excitement and surprises. Rosario Dawson returns as Ahsoka, accompanied by David Tennant as her companion Huyang. As they embark on an adventure into the unknown, Ahsoka seizes an opportunity to train with her former master, Anakin Skywalker, through holograms left behind by him. The episode also features Hera Syndulla, facing the consequences of her actions and skeptical senators who brush off her reports about Morgan Elsbeth and Thrawn as fairytales.

Thrawn, the cunning antagonist, is pleasantly surprised to learn of Ahsoka‘s existence and her connection to Anakin. However, he realizes that she is focused on finding Sabine, and conveniently knows her location. Ahsoka expertly navigates through an Imperial minefield, showcasing her skills and resilience. Meanwhile, Sabine fills in Ezra on events since his disappearance, and Ahsoka reaches out to Sabine through the Force, surprising her with her presence.

Ahsoka and her allies find themselves in a confrontation with scavengers, leading to a thrilling chase and lightsaber battles. Despite some criticism that these battles overshadow more meaningful scenes, the visual effects and action sequences are engaging. Ahsoka arrives just in time to save the day, forcing Thrawn to recall his troops and jeopardizing his escape plan. However, Thrawn sees this as a success, as he continues his preparations to leave Peridea.

The episode ends on a heartwarming note, with Ezra expressing joy at the prospect of finally going home. However, the looming threat of Thrawn casts a shadow over their future. This raises the question of how much ground the season finale of “Ahsoka” has left to cover. Will Thrawn be presented as a genuine threat rather than just another power-hungry figure in a turbulent galaxy?

The first seven episodes of “Ahsoka” are currently streaming on Disney+.
