Leipzig’s challenge: Can they stop Haaland?
RB Leipzig faces a considerable challenge in their upcoming match as they come up against Erling Haaland, the Norwegian sensation who wreaked havoc on them in last season’s Round of 16 tie. In that fixture, Haaland scored five goals in Manchester City’s 7-0 victory at home. The 23-year-old striker has a remarkable record against Leipzig, having scored six times in four matches during his time with Borussia Dortmund. In fact, in just six encounters, Haaland has netted a total of 11 goals.
When asked about his memorable performance last season, Haaland modestly replied, “I don’t remember the goals because it’s a bit blurry in my mind. I remember just hitting instinctively. I was very tired after the celebrations. It was a great night. I’m very proud to play in the Champions League; I love this competition as everyone knows.”

Record-breaking Pulišić: The American star
Christian Pulišić made history in 2021 by becoming the first American player to win the UEFA Champions League. Playing for Chelsea, Pulišić planted the flag of the United States at the pinnacle of European football as he came off the bench to help his team secure a 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the final. Growing up, Pulišić always dreamt of playing in the Champions League and has now earned his place in the competition with AC Milan. He has surpassed other notable American players such as DaMarcus Beasley, Jermaine Jones, Sacha Kljestan, and Claudio Reyna, becoming the American player with the most appearances in the prestigious European club tournament. His match against Dortmund on Wednesday will mark his 50th appearance in the Champions League.
Dortmund’s coach, Edin Terzić, commented on Pulišić’s talents: “We know Christian Pulišić very well,” said the 40-year-old coach, who was part of the technical staff during Pulišić’s time at Dortmund.
Paris on the move: Can Newcastle stop them?
Newcastle will face an uphill battle as they host Paris in their group, which also includes AC Milan and Dortmund. Paris impressed in their first match, showcasing a well-oiled possession-based game, while Newcastle managed to secure a point in Italy. The clash between the two teams promises an exciting encounter.
